Project Title and Objectives

The Regional Project “Promoting Stability and Peace in Central Asia through Increasing Media Literacy, Effective Coverage and Regional Cooperation”, funded by the European Union and implemented by Internews.

The project aims to support national and regional initiatives that contribute to the prevention of radicalization in Central Asia through capacity building (through training activities, workshops at both country and regional levels and innovative laboratories) of journalists, civic activists and media professionals in the production of high-quality media. content and increasing the critical media use of civil society, decision makers and ordinary citizens.

The Public Foundation Civic Initiative Internet Policy (CIIP)  is an Internews partner in the project. The tasks of the implemented component are:

  • study of the legal mechanism and practice of blocking terrorist content in the Central Asian countries to determine the effectiveness of measures taken and associated risk factors;
  • analysis of publicly available social media content, blogs and online forums promoting extremist ideologies, recruiting into the ranks of extremist groups for mapping violent extremism online for Central Asia.

PF CIIP plans to hire 6 experts with relevant experience in the field of countering violent extremism, 1 consultant with experience in law enforcement, 1 coordinator for this study.

Project duration – 6 months

Conditions of employment – Remote work is possible. Payment is made for the provision of the product in accordance with the terms and tasks defined by the work plan.

Requirement for candidates:

  • a social science expert with experience studying the social risk factors of violent extremism;
  • religious scholar with experience studying the risk factors of violent extremism;
  • an information and communication technology expert with experience in the planning and application of ICT to solve social and economic problems, including the prevention of extremism;
  • legal expert (lawyer) with experience in analyzing national legislation, policies and practices to combat extremism and terrorism;
  • an expert in psychology with academic and practical experience in studying the psychological aspects of violent extremism;
  • an information technology expert with experience in ensuring the safe operation of a computer network and the operation of office software and hardware;
  • a consultant with experience in law enforcement in combating extremism and terrorism;
  • research coordinator with experience in conducting research on extremism and terrorism issues;

Qualifications and skills:

  • Academic degree or higher education in the relevant field or other relevant discipline and at least 5 years of relevant professional experience.

Knowledge of languages:

  • fluent Russian and English;
  • Practical knowledge of the Central Asian languages ​​is welcome.
