First Central Asian Eduthon was held in Bishkek


In Bishkek, from June 4 to June 6, the first Central Asian Eduthon is held – an advanced methodological seminar with teachers from journalism departments, school teachers and media professionals in the field of media literacy from Central Asian countries, organized by the Internews Representatives’ Office in Central Asia.

Experts of Public Foundation Civic Initiative of Internet Policies Asomiddin Atoev and Artyom Goryanov act as mentors at this seminar.

Presentation of Asomiddin Atoev was devoted to the tool of self-regulation in the network, he told how the Youtube and Facebook communities are already working on the fight against illegal content.

In the region only in Kyrgyzstan there is a practice of blocking content based on a court decision, while in other countries law enforcement agencies do not need any justification for this and often resources are completely blocked. Self-regulation of networks users can become an alternative to traditional practices of combating illegal content.

Artem Goryainov in his presentation on digital security told the participants how disastrous the effects of digital promise could be, and shared the basics of digital hygiene. The concept of projects developed by participants and supporting the dissemination best practices; media literacy, digital literacy and critical thinking.
