The second CAIGF was held in Dushanbe

The second Central Asian Forum on Internet Governance – CAIGF-2017 was held on June 22-23, 2017 in Dushanbe (Tajikistan). The main goal of the event is the organization of an open platform for discussing the issues of Internet governance policy in the countries of Central Asia.

This year, the main topic of the forum was the creation of a secure digital space, taking into account the preservation of the maximum possible freedoms. Equally important was the aspect of the new economic opportunities that the countries of the region will gain with increasing Internet access.

The forum gathered more than 200 participants – regional and international experts and specialists whose task was:

  • Assess the current development of the Internet and its impact on socio-political and economic changes in the region;
  • Identify the most balanced approaches to the political and technical regulation and management of the Internet;
  • Identify recommendations for developing policies based on regional and international practices.
