The open alliance “Digital Kyrgyzstan” is established in Kyrgyzstan by the leading nongovernmental organizations in the sphere of media, considering the critical situation on the process of transition to digital broadcasting and rigid schedule delays of planned activities.
The new Alliance expresses its willingness to be on guard to ensure freedom of access of information and protection of the rights of independent broadcasters and sets the following goals:
Alliance is open to other new organizations in the sphere of media, TV companies, other companies in the sphere of TV and radio broadcasting to be joined and to have a willingness to be involved in participation, monitoring and transparency of transition and allocation of digital broadcasting (multiplex). The secretariat of Alliance is the public foundation of “The Civil Initiative of Internet Policy”.
As it is known, in accordance with the decision of International Telecommunication Union (ITU) of 2006, the countries of the Central-Asian Region in June 17, 2015 will be the last who complete the transition of the whole world to the digital broadcasting.
During the left 2 years Kyrgyzstan should give effect to the full transition to the digital format of broadcasting. According to the international agreement by June 17, 2015 regardless of our readiness we must turn off the analogue broadcasting in border regions of the Republic (more than 60% of territory and population).
