One of the activities of the CIIP is a creation of a conceptual, technical and legal framework for a cybersecurity system. All the activities of the CIIP in this area are based on the principles of the protection of personal data and the privacy of citizens, as well as proportionality in the issues of cybersecurity and respect for human rights.

The main activities of the CIIP in the field of cyber security:

  • cybersecurity research;
  • monitoring of the current legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic and other countries regulating the sphere of information and cyber security in order to assess the current situation, identify gaps and develop recommendations for filling them;
  • participation in the development of strategic documents in the field of cybersecurity (Cybersecurity Strategy of the Kyrgyz Republic, Action Plan for the implementation of the strategy);
  • protection of personal information;
  • information and cyber security training;
  • constant monitoring of access to the Internet;
  • improving the cyber readiness index;
  • protection of critical information infrastructure;
  • development of technical safety requirements;
  • development and improvement of legislation in the field of computer crimes and misdemeanors, as well as computer forensics and cybercrime investigations;
  • prevention of cyber extremism and cyber terrorism.

In 2017, the CIIP also initiated the creation of Analytical Center for the Study of Actual Problems of Security and Regional Development in Kyrgyzstan whose tasks include conducting research, examinations, developing recommendations, developing analytical articles, and increasing qualifications in the field of information and cybersecurity.
